Field Trip Health Ltd. and WHOOP announce partnership to measure effect of psychedelic therapies on physiology and mental health

Collaboration will initially focus on special operations veterans through Field Trip’s Basecamp division, and then expand to general population seeking treatment with psychedelic therapies

TORONTO, Nov. 19, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP, OTCBB: FTRPF) (“Field Trip”), a global leader in the development and delivery of psychedelic therapies, and WHOOP, the human performance company, today announced a partnership whereby Field Trip will be using WHOOP Strap 3.0 to measure the biometric effects of Field Trip’s psychedelic therapies.

Field Trip, which is opening Field Trip Health centers across North America and Europe for the delivery of psychedelic therapies, plans to conduct an observational study to assess whether Field Trip’s ketamine-assisted therapies, which have demonstrated significant efficacy in treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and PTSD, translate into improvements in physical health through a variety of biometric measures collected via WHOOP Strap 3.0 including heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, and overall sleep quality. Field Trip procured WHOOP products and access to additional data insights via a research partnership and enterprise program.

“The clinical results from our first three centers in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles, as determined by validated mental health measures, have been extremely positive. We have noted a significant reduction in depressive symptoms from severe or moderately severe to mild or non-existent, along with reduction in anxiety and trauma related symptoms,” said Dr. Ryan Yermus, Field Trip’s Chief Clinical Officer. “Through this partnership with WHOOP and the observational study we will be conducting, we expect to find that these improvements in mental health correlate strongly to improvements in a person’s biometrics as well.”

The initial focus of the study will be on military veterans who seek ketamine-assisted therapies through Field Trip’s Basecamp program, a treatment program designed specifically for military veterans and people in high-intensity professions such as front line medical workers, police and firefighters. Military veterans experience post-traumatic stress at significantly higher rates than the general population, which may be a result of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) from exposure to blast waves from explosives.

“In their continual search for a persistent, unfair advantage on the battlefield, Special Operations veterans are highly attuned to their physical and mental performance and well-being,” said Adam Wright, Director of Field Trip Basecamp. “Deploying WHOOP as part of their treatment program is consistent with this natural disposition of veterans. We not only expect veterans to be eager to participate in a study that will help future veterans, we also anticipate they will optimize their performance and experience additional health improvements through actionable insights from WHOOP across sleep, recovery, and strain.”

Studies have demonstrated that physiological metrics such as HRV and slow wave sleep patterns are correlated with improved health outcomes. The parties anticipate that the effects of Field Trip’s psychedelic therapies will improve these key metrics and this study is expected to advance the understanding of correlation between mental health and physiology.

Kristen Holmes, Vice President of Performance Science at WHOOP, commented: “Through our initial work with SEAL Future Foundation, we were able to show that psilocybin and ayahuasca therapies had profoundly positive effects on the physiology of veteran SEALs. With this program at Field Trip, which is offering legal treatment with psychedelic therapies across North America and Europe, we hope to be part of the healing of a much larger group of people, and further show that 24/7 health monitoring by WHOOP technology can help people take control of their overall well-being when used in association with new mental and emotional health therapies.”

“At Field Trip, our mission is to bring the world to life through psychedelics and psychedelic-enhanced therapies,” said Ronan Levy, Field Trip’s Executive Chairman. “Through this partnership with WHOOP, we hope to demonstrate that our work not only changes the mental and emotional well-being of people, it also tangible and meaningfully gets expressed through their physical well-being as well.”

Field Trip Health Ltd. Announces Expansion to The Netherlands and Launch of Proprietary Truffle Program

AMSTERDAM, Nov. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP, OTCBB: FTRPF) (“Field Trip”), a global leader in the development and delivery of technology-enabled psychedelic therapies, announced today that it has entered into a lease and plans to open a Field Trip Health Center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Located at Piet Heinkade 55 overlooking the IJhaven River, the 665 sqm (7158 sqft) Amsterdam location will be the first Field Trip Health center focused on therapeutic use of psychedelics using legal truffles. Field Trip expects to begin accepting people interested in participating in its truffle programs in December 2020, and the Netherlands location of Field Trip Health is expected to open in March 2021.

“Globally, we are in the midst of a mental health crisis, and The Netherlands is no exception. The prevalence of mental health issues is at all time highs and is being exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is estimated that 30% of the Dutch population is experiencing some form of stress-related mental health challenge due to the pandemic,” said Prof. Dr. Jan J.L. Derksen, an advisor to Field Trip in The Netherlands. “Whereas big pharma has fallen short in terms of driving breakthroughs and innovation in mental health, innovative companies like Field Trip are filling the gap. With its truffle-based program embedded in science, therapy and guidance, Field Trip is advancing treatment options with healing psychedelic experiences, while at the same time investing heavily in its own R&D to advance new and exciting molecules to treat mental health issues.”

Studies from institutions such as Johns Hopkins, New York University and Imperial College London have demonstrated that psilocybin therapy, when performed by qualified professionals, can have profoundly positive effects on treating mental and emotional health challenges such as depression, anxiety, end of life distress and addiction. Similar studies have demonstrated that psychedelic therapies may also increase a person’s creativity, empathy, openness to others’ viewpoints and regard for the environment and planet.

“People from around the world have already travelled to The Netherlands to visit retreats providing ceremonial psychedelic experiences with truffles containing psilocybin,” said Onur Yildirim, PhD, Field Trip’s Director of Clinical Operations in The Netherlands. “But in order for these treatments to create the most significant impact and generate broader medical acceptance, they need to be professionalized. And that’s exactly what we are doing with our Field Trip Health Center in Amsterdam. All of our treatment programs with truffles will be administered by accredited and licensed therapists and psychologists and overseen by a licensed psychiatrist to provide the best possible experiences and effects on positive measures of health.”

The Field Trip Health Netherlands location will offer a variety of therapeutic programs using truffles containing psilocybin. Based on the desired experience, the center will offer several program options for individuals as well as couples.

The planned opening of The Netherlands location follows on the announcement in early November of Field Trip’s plans to establish operations in the State of Oregon following the passage of Measure 109 which will effectively create the first legal market for psilocybin therapies in North America.

“An essential part of our strategy is to constantly learn and innovate with all forms of legal psychedelic therapies,” said Ronan Levy, Field Trip’s Executive Chairman. “With this new location, we are going to leverage the experience, data and know-how developed by our clinical staff in our ketamine-enhanced therapy locations in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. We will translate that knowledge-base to the programs being offered in our Field Trip Health Center in Amsterdam. We will then use the collective experience to establish protocols for Oregon and beyond as new psychedelic therapies get legalized and approved.”

Field Trip Health Ltd. Prepares to Enter Oregon Market following the Passage of Measure 109 in Oregon, Creating the First Legal Market for Psilocybin Services

Field Trip, which has been legally cultivating a variety of psilocybin-producing mushrooms in Jamaica, and is rolling out Field Trip Health centers for the delivery of psychedelic therapies, is positioned be a leader in the emerging psychedelic renaissance

TORONTO, Nov. 05, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP) (“Field Trip”), one of the leaders in the development and delivery of psychedelic therapies, announced today that it is in advanced stages of identifying potential sites for Field Trip Health centers to treat people in Oregon with psilocybin therapies following the passage of Measure 109 (“Measure 109” or the “Measure”).

Measure 109, which was approved by voters in Oregon on November 3, 2020, requires the Oregon Health Authority to create a licensing system that will create a regulated program for the cultivation of psilocybin-producing mushrooms and the provision of supervised psilocybin therapy, effectively creating the first legal market for psilocybin therapies in North America.

Field Trip, which has been cultivating twenty-five species and strains of psilocybin-producing mushrooms at its research facility at the University of West Indies (Mona) in Jamaica since January, also announced its intention to seek licenses for cultivation in the State of Oregon when regulations following from Measure 109 are established.

“Based on its geography and climate, Oregon is an ideal place for cultivation of psilocybin-producing mushrooms. But cultivation that meets all quality standards and analytical testing requirements is complex,” said Marshall Tyler, Field Trip’s Director of Research. “Our current cultivation research, which is focused on developing safety methods for microbial contamination, pesticides, mycotoxins, heavy metals, and analyzing tryptamine content from all psychoactive species at all stages of growth, positions us well to establish effective cultivation operations in Oregon and, subject to the regulations that are established, to be able to offer a wide variety of products and therapies to the people in Oregon.”

Studies from institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, New York University and Imperial College London have demonstrated that psilocybin therapy, when performed by qualified professionals, can have profoundly positive effects on treating mental and emotional health challenges such as depression, anxiety, end of life distress and addiction. Similar studies have demonstrated that psychedelic therapies may also increase a person’s creativity, empathy, openness to others viewpoints and regard for the environment and planet.

“From the earliest days at Field Trip, we built our business case on the belief that the psychedelic industry would develop on two parallel and complementary paths: one that would be purely medical for the treatment of diagnosed mental health conditions, and the other which would make psychedelic therapies available to a wider audience,” said Ronan Levy, Executive Chairman of Field Trip Health Ltd. “The success of Measure 109 validates that belief, and positions us to be the clear leader in the emerging psychedelics industry. With Field Trip Health centers rolling out across North America delivering best-in-class psychedelic therapies, and our research on cultivation of psilocybe, we are extremely well-positioned to help Oregonians access best-in-class psilocybin therapies. And with our drug development work on FT-104, our novel psychedelic molecule, advancing ahead of schedule, we are also positioned to help extend the psychedelic renaissance to people around the world.”

Field Trip Health Ltd. Provides Update on FT-104, Its Next Generation Psychedelic Molecule in Development

Results confirm that Field Trip’s novel psychedelic molecule is similar in potency to psilocybin but with shorter duration of psychoactivity making it a potentially preferable option for psychedelic therapies

TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2020 /CNW/ — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP) (OTC: FTRPF) (“Field Trip”), the leader in the development and delivery of psychedelic therapies, today provided an update on its in-vivo and in-vitro studies on FT-104, its lead drug candidate.

Further to its announcement on September 29, 2020, confirming both the successful GLP synthesis of FT-104 and that FT-104 is a serotonin 5HT2A receptor agonist (the serotonin receptor believed responsible for psychedelic experiences), Field Trip announced that FT-104 is a potent psychedelic molecule with rapid onset and a short duration.

Notably, Field Trip reported:

  • FT-104’s binding constant (Ki) for the 5HT2A receptor is 120 nM, which indicates a potency similar to psilocybin1;
  • A 2mg/kg subcutaneous dose of FT104 to rats resulted in peak concentrations (Cmax) of the active agonist of 150+/-51 ng/ml at 60 min (Tmax) and bioavailability of 89%.
  • The elimination of FT-104 from the bloodstream has a half-life (t1/2) of 40min, which compares to psilocybin with a half-life on the order of 120min2;
  • A head twitch response (“HTR”) was observed after administration of FT-104. The intensity of the HTR correlated well with plasma levels of the active which suggests that the EC50 (50% effective concentration) for the HTR is in the range of 100 ng/ml. It has been shown that the HTR in rodents is related to the intensity of psychedelic activity of a psychedelic substance, and thus, is an indicator of its potential for use as a catalyst to treat mood disorders.

In summary, these experiments demonstrate that: (i) FT-104 is a near equipotent 5HT2A receptor agonist to psilocybin that can be delivered with high bioavailability; and (ii)  FT-104 will likely produce a reliably short-duration of psychedelic experience in the range of two to four hours, which is approximately half the duration of psilocybin.

“As we formulated our drug development strategy, we focused on new molecules (NCEs) that: (i) offer shorter duration of psychedelic experiences to make them more practical and convenient for use in the clinic; (ii) had similar potency to psilocybin or MDMA; (iii) had low potential for addiction; and (iv) would be simple to synthesize while differentiated and structurally distinct from psilocybin or other existing 5HT2A receptor agonists,” commented Dr. Nathan Bryson, Field Trip’s Chief Science Officer. “After significant research and due diligence, we initiated synthesis of a battery of small molecules, from which FT-104 was selected as our lead molecule. I am excited to take FT-104 into the next phases of our drug development program.”

FT-104 is a novel, synthetic psychedelic molecule developed by Field Trip inspired by the chemical structures of known psychedelic substances. FT-104 was selected for its simplicity as well as its potential to distinguish itself with respect to its pharmacological features relative to naturally-derived substances, such as psilocybin, DMT and LSD.

“Drugs like psilocybin and MDMA are showing significant efficacy in treating conditions like depression and PTSD,” said Dieter Weinand, Field Trip Board Member and former Chairman and CEO of Bayer Pharmaceuticals AG. “However, the relatively slow onset, and long duration of those drugs, which can result in treatment times lasting from 6 to 10 hours or more, makes them less attractive to patients and clinicians because of the time and treatment infrastructure required. Not to mention, they are not, generally speaking, protectable by intellectual property.”

“If the results suggested by these preliminary studies for FT-104 are confirmed in clinical studies, FT-104 will address several notable limitations of psilocybin and MDMA.  Plus, it would be more convenient,” added Weinand, “which could make it a first choice for clinicians and a better treatment option than psilocybin.”

Ronan Levy, Field Trip’s Executive Chairman noted, “Since inception, our philosophy at Field Trip has been that any psychedelics company needs to focus on both the development of psychedelic medicines and the delivery of psychedelic therapies.  We’ve always known that the Field Trip Health centers rolling out across North America would give us a competitive advantage in understanding and meeting the challenges of psychedelic medicine. Now, the latest results with FT104 suggest that Field Trip will also be the leader in the development of new psychedelic therapeutics.”

Field Trip Health Ltd. Continues Expansion With Psychedelic-Enhanced Therapy Center in Chicago

The Chicago location is the third Field Trip Health center to open in the United States this year, providing an opportunity to continue normalizing the use of psychedelics in healing across the country

CHICAGO, Oct. 22, 2020 /CNW/ — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP) (“Field Trip”), the global leader in the development and delivery of technology-enabled psychedelic therapies, announced today the opening of their Chicago center. Located at 325 West Huron Street, Suite 603, the Chicago location is the fourth Field Trip Health center to open this year, following Toronto, New York and Los Angeles.

Psychedelic-enhanced psychotherapy has the potential to transform lives, leading to improved well-being,1 optimism2 and increased neural plasticity3 according to multiple evidence-based studies from world-class institutions around the world. Field Trip Health takes a step-by-step, integrated approach to psychedelic-assisted therapies to support those struggling with depression and other mental health challenges.

Within Field Trip Health’s centers, each person’s journey is personalized and influenced by their individual needs and goals to best enable them to heal and grow. Before treatment is approved, each person is screened by Field Trip Health’s team of certified psychiatrists and medical professionals to ensure ketamine-assisted therapy is appropriate.

Once approved for treatment, on arrival at the Chicago location, each person is ushered into a private room where they are set up in a zero gravity chair and, following a short chat with their therapist, the ketamine dose is administered by a clinician. During the two-hour medically supervised session, people are encouraged to relax with an eye mask and noise cancelling headphones. Post-experience, clients will sit with their therapist to explore their individual journey and are then invited to recover further in a recovery lounge before heading home. Each individual’s experience is unique and personalized, with many reporting transformative experiences during the first few sessions.

Dr. Ryan Yermus, Field Trip Health’s Chief Clinical Officer, commented: “The initial clinical results from our first three centers have been extremely positive. The first patients in New York to complete the Field Trip Health course of treatment demonstrated a significant reduction in depressive symptoms from severe or moderately severe to mild or non-existent. This was further accompanied by a reduction in anxiety and trauma related symptoms. We are incredibly excited to bring this treatment to the people of Chicago.”

The entire experience is supported by Field Trip’s digital technology and tools that guide people through the experience from before treatment is approved until after their treatment program is complete, and beyond, with mood monitoring tools, meditations, mindfulness tools and information.

Field Trip Health centers are thoughtfully and intentionally designed to promote healing and provide people with a calming space before, during, and after treatment. The Chicago location was designed as a quiet escape from the busy city. Featuring a custom moss wall by local artist Stephanie Williams of Variegated Designs which brings a strong element of nature, where clients can relax and ground themselves amidst a palette of earth tones, soft velvets and natural light.

Ronan Levy, Field Trip’s Executive Chairman added: “With the opening of our Chicago location, we continue to execute against one of the pillars of our business strategy — building the infrastructure needed to deliver and scale best-in-class psychedelic therapies to our communities. With each new Field Trip Health center, we not only create incredible impact and healing, we are also building the know-how, protocols and understanding to further refine and enhance both the delivery of psychedelic medicine to people, as well as our development pipeline for new psychedelic therapeutics.”

The address for the Chicago clinic is 325 West Huron Street., Suite 603, Chicago, IL 60654 and patients can book a consultation by phone (1-888-519-6016), email (chicago@fieldtriphealth.com) or online at https://www.fieldtriphealth.com/locations/chicago.

Heroic Hearts Project and Field Trip Health Ltd. enter into a strategic relationship to increase legal psychedelic therapy access for military veterans in North America

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy showing great promise for treatment of PTSD

Toronto, Canada – October 14, 2020– Heroic Hearts Project (“HHP”), an international nonprofit organization that connects military veterans struggling with mental trauma to psychedelic therapies, and Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP) (“Field Trip”), the global leader in the development and delivery of technology-enabled psychedelic therapies, today announced entry into a strategic relationship to increase access to, and awareness of, psychedelic therapies for veterans suffering from mental health disorders such as PTSD.

Under the terms of the relationship, and in accordance with the foundation’s mission, HHP will be conducting active outreach and education programs for military veterans about the therapeutic potential of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (“KAP”). Field Trip, which through its Basecamp division, has developed a unique “KAP+” trauma-focused treatment pathway tailored to veterans and frontline workers, will assist military veterans in applying for insurance and reimbursement options to make the treatment available at little to no cost through its Field Trip Health hubs.

As the acceptance of psychedelics spreads, the role of independent organizations like Heroic Hearts Project will be increasingly important to ensure the responsible progression of these treatment options for the veteran as well as other communities. Beyond the relationship with Field Trip, HHP primarily works to spread awareness in the veteran community of plant-based psychedelic treatments, such as ayahuasca and psilocybin, for mental health conditions and end the excessive dependence on pharmaceutical medications to treat mental traumas.

“Not all veterans are able to participate in traditional psychedelic ceremonies due to either medical or logistical constraints,” said Jesse Gould, HHP’s founder. “Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy offers a potentially effective solution for veterans who can’t travel to remote retreat locations or have contraindications that prevent them from immediately working with other psychedelic options. We applaud Field Trip for demonstrating responsible leadership in the psychedelic field by working with HHP to ensure that veterans receive quality psychedelic care and attention. We are excited to be working with Field Trip and its Basecamp program to increase veteran access to world class psychedelic facilities across North America.”

The strategic relationship will start with a focus on helping Canadian veterans access to KAP+ in Field Trip’s Toronto clinic, as veterans in Canada are able to go through the full treatment protocol at little to no cost with their insurance coverage.

“We are very excited to collaborate with Jesse and HHP,” said Adam Wright, Director of Field Trip Basecamp. “There is a subset of veterans who have been failed by conventional mental health solutions and HHP helps guide them through alternative treatments in the safest and most conscientious way possible. With KAP+, Field Trip offers a domestic, legal and evidence-based therapy channel for HHP.”

Ronan Levy, Executive Chairman of Field Trip, added, “It’s estimated that there are more than half a million veterans in North America that have or are experiencing PTSD and other mental health conditions from their service to their countries. New, effective and accessible treatment options, such as our KAP+ treatments, are absolutely essential to showing these members of our communities the respect they deserve, and giving them the support they need. And that’s why we are so excited and honoured to be partnering with HHP in this pursuit.”
