Add some ecstasy to your sex life

Subjective effects of MDMA (‘Ecstasy’) on human sexual function

Over 90% of people experienced increased sexual desire and satisfaction after taking MDMA. But that’s not the only way it can improve your sex life.

Mindcure (MCUR) is studying MDMA-assisted-therapy as a treatment for Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), which is characterized by low sex drive and emotional distress.

The goal is to use MDMA to get to the root cause of the issue, which may be a history of negative sexual experiences and relationships or struggles with self worth or body image.

Global Wellness’ Shanti Therapeutics Announce Psychedelic Drug Development Agreement

Global Wellness’ Shanti Therapeutics Announce Psychedelic Drug Development Agreement

Vancouver, British Columbia, January 20, 2022 – Global Wellness Strategies Inc. (CSE:GWS) (OTCQB: GWSFF) (Frankfurt:O3X4) (“Global” or the “Company”) announces that it has signed an agreement with Next Frontier Pharmaceuticals, Inc.’s subsidiary Benuvia Manufacturing, Inc.; a merger partner of Jupiter Wellness (NASDAQ: JUPW) to work with Shanti Therapeutics as the manager of their novel psychedelic development program using MDMA.

Benuvia, based in Round Rock, Texas, is a leading drug developer and provider of cannabinoid and psychedelic APIs. Benuvia has a growing portfolio of drug products and intellectual property, and an 83,000 square foot synthetic compound manufacturing facility that is permitted by the U.S. DEA for Schedule I to III controlled substances, and is FDA registered. Benuvia also has a platform of drug master files and drug development libraries, manufacturing process technologies, and intellectual property, including patents, for the development and manufacture of organic and synthetic cannabinoids, and has a pending application for quota with the U.S. DEA to manufacture psychedelic APIs. Benuvia has begun focusing on three primary psychedelic ingredients: Psilocybin, N,N-Dimethyl-5-Methoxy-Tryptamine, or DMT, and 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA.

“Shanti chose Benuvia as its development partner due to its proven track record and best in class status as a developer and manufacturer of synthetic APIs.  We are creating a pipeline of novel agonists as a new class of therapeutics designed to treat the root causes of mental illness disorders and chronic pain.” said Meris Kott, CEO, Global Wellness Strategies Inc. “By partnering with Benuvia, Shanti will continue with its strategy of collaborating with the emerging leaders in the field to realize our mission to provide innovative new medicines to patients.”

“We are excited to announce our entry into the global psychedelic market and our partnership program with emerging providers of psychedelic-based drugs focused on mental illness and chronic pain indications,” said Shannon Soqui, Executive Chairman of Next Frontier Pharmaceuticals. “As pharmaceutical companies become more aware of the positive effects of cannabinoids and psychedelic compounds for therapeutic use, the demand for APIs is expected to grow. Our diversified portfolio of APIs and entry into the development of novel psychedelic compounds aims to increase Next Frontier Pharmaceuticals’ and Benuvia’s position as a leading drug developer and provider of APIs focused on cannabinoids and psychedelics.”

As part of its launch into the market, Benuvia has signed an agreement to provide life cycle management services to Shanti Therapeutics for their psychedelic development program which uses MDMA. Benuvia will develop and file intellectual property on formulations of MDMA, and will provide full toxicology, and chemistry, manufacturing and controls, or CMC, and full data analysis. In addition, Benuvia, through its partners, will manage all research and development, manufacturing, analytical methods, intellectual property capture, placebo manufacture, randomization, and assistance with clinical trials. This will enable Benuvia to create custom technologies that allow rapid and cost-effective scale up of commercial operations for production in anticipation of research success.

“We are excited to partner with Shanti Therapeutics as we have a shared vision to develop and commercialize innovative medicines that provide an alternative treatment option for health care providers and their patients,” said Brandon Kidd, Chief Business Development Officer of Next Frontier Pharmaceuticals. “As pharmaceutical companies look to optimize the life cycle management of their cannabinoid and psychedelic drug products, Benuvia is an ideal partner to facilitate all facets of the process from drug development and formulation to manufacturing.”

Awakn Life Sciences Signs MOU With MAPS

Awakn Life Sciences Signs MOU With MAPS

Agreement to explore a partnership for MDMA-Assisted Therapy for treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder in Europe

TORONTO, CANADA, 19 January 2022 – Awakn Life Sciences Corp. (NEO: AWKN) (OTCQB: AWKNF) (FSE: 954) (‘Awakn’), a biotechnology company developing and delivering psychedelic therapeutics (medicines and therapies) to treat Addiction, announced today it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) to explore a partnership to utilize MDMA-assisted therapy to treat Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in Europe.

Under the terms of this MOU, Awakn will explore a data licensing agreement with MAPS to support Awakn’s Phase IIb and planned Phase III studies for MDMA-assisted therapy for AUD in Europe. Awakn and MAPS will also assess a partnership to secure marketing authorisation/regulatory approval for the ethical commercialization of MDMA-assisted therapy for the treatment of AUD in Europe.

AUD is a chronic disease affecting 40 million people in Europe and 390 million people globally. It is also a pervasive and persistent public health issue, with alcohol use being one of the top five causes of disease and disability in the majority of countries in Europe. And for each person suffering from AUD, there is a friend, a partner, or a family also deeply affected by it.

In February 2021, Awakn announced the publication of the successful results of the BIMA Phase IIa study investigating MDMA-assisted therapy for the treatment of AUD, reporting a 21% relapse rate at 9 months in comparison to a 75% relapse rate in a separate observational group.

In May 2021, MAPS announced that it achieved successful results in its first of two Phase III trials for MDMA-assisted therapy for the treatment of severe chronic PTSD. In this study, 88% of participants who received three MDMA-assisted therapy sessions – along with twelve 90-minute, non-drug preparation and integration therapy sessions – experienced a clinically meaningful reduction in symptoms. 67% of participants no longer qualified for a PTSD diagnosis.

“MAPS’ role in driving and advancing the use of psychedelics in the clinical setting over the last 35 years is second to none,” said Anthony Tennyson, Awakn’s CEO. “We believe that by licensing MAPS’ pre-clinical data and exploring options for future ethical commercialisation, we will improve the timeline and path to market for these life-changing treatments for AUD, providing hope for those for whom the status quo is not working.”

“MAPS has been working with AWAKN scientists for decades in the effort to initiate trials into a range of clinical uses of MDMA-assisted therapy,” shares Rick Doblin, Founder and Executive Director of MAPS. “We’re delighted to be entering into this MoU with AWAKN which holds great promise for people suffering from AUD.”

Awakn also recently announced groundbreaking results from its Phase IIa/b ‘Ketamine for the Reduction of Alcoholic Relapse’ (KARE) clinical trial. It was the first controlled study in the world to investigate Ketamine-assisted therapy for the treatment of AUD and was published in the American Journal of Psychiatry in January. The study, conducted by the University of Exeter (UoE) and led by Prof. Celia Morgan, Professor of Psychopharmacology at UoE and Awakn’s Head of Ketamine-Assisted Therapy for addiction showed that ketamine and psychological therapy resulted in an 86% abstinence rate 6 months post treatment, an increase from 2% before the trial.

“This is another milestone in the advancement of successfully treating Alcohol Use Disorder,” said Awakn CMO Dr. Ben Sessa. “Currently there are millions suffering with very few promising lasting treatments and be it with MDMA or Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, we are exploring every promising avenue to treat a disease that not only impacts the individual, but also families and communities.”

NOTE

The safety and efficacy of MDMA-assisted therapy is currently under investigation. It has not yet been approved by medical regulators, does not work for everyone, and carries risks even in therapeutic settings. These statements are no guarantee of future regulatory approval or availability of MDMA-assisted therapy. These statements necessarily involve known and unknown risks and uncertainties, which may cause actual outcomes to differ materially from our projections.

Survey Finds Majority of Affected Americans Approve of Psychedelics as an Alternative Treatment to Address Anxiety, Depression and PTSD

Survey Finds Majority of Affected Americans Approve of Psychedelics as an Alternative Treatment to Address Anxiety, Depression and PTSD

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jan. 11, 2021 – A new survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Delic Holdings Corp (“Delic” or the “Company”) (CSE: DELC) (OTCQB: DELCF) (FRA: 6X0) (Original Source), a leader in new medicines and treatments for a modern world, reports that nearly two thirds of Americans who suffer from anxiety/depression/PTSD (65%) believe that psychedelic medicine (i.e. ketamine, psilocybin and MDMA) should be made available to patients with treatment-resistant anxiety, depression or PTSD.

According to the survey, conducted online in December, 2021 among 953 U.S. adults who suffer from anxiety/depression/PTSD, nearly two-thirds (63%) of Americans who have used prescription medications to treat anxiety/depression/PTSD say that while the medication helped, they still experienced residual feelings of anxiety, depression or PTSD. Furthermore, 18% say that the medication did not improve their condition/made it worse.

“We are witnessing a silent crisis impacting people across the globe exacerbated by an ongoing pandemic, and the results of this survey should compel more medical professionals and lawmakers to support in-depth studies on the therapeutic benefits of psychedelic medicine,” said Matt Stang, co-founder and CEO of Delic. “This promising family of new medicines has the potential to be more effective than traditional medicines with minimal side effects, giving people their best selves back. Our country’s mental health crisis not only impacts public health, but also the economy–each year, untreated mental illness costs the U.S. up to $300 billion in lost productivity.”

According to the study, 83% of Americans experiencing anxiety, depression or PTSD would be open to pursuing alternative treatments proven to be more effective than prescription medication with fewer side effects. Among those who suffer from anxiety/depression/PTSD, many would be open to using the following substances which have been identified as potential alternative treatments for those seeking to address their mental health conditions:

  • Ketamine: 66% would be open to pursuing treatment using ketamine to treat anxiety, depression or PTSD if it was proven more effective than prescription medication with fewer side effects.
  • Psilocybin: 62% said they would be open to pursuing treatment using psilocybin prescribed by a physician to address their anxiety, depression or PTSD if it was proven more effective than prescription medication with fewer side effects.
  • MDMA: 56% would be open to pursuing treatment using MDMA prescribed by a physician to treat their anxiety, depression or PTSD if it was proven more effective than prescription medication with fewer side effects.

Survey Method

This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Delic from December 6 – 8, 2021 among 2,037 adults ages 18 and older, among whom 953 suffer from anxiety/depression/PTSD. This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated. For complete survey methodology, including weighting variables and subgroup sample sizes, please contact delic@mattio.com.

Mydecine to Launch Special Access Support and Supply Program in Canada Expanding Access to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy For Patients

Mydecine to Launch Special Access Support and Supply Program in Canada Expanding Access to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy For Patients

With the addition of psilocybin and MDMA to Health Canada’s Special Access Program, Mydecine looks to offer a package of cGMP products and support services promoting responsible administration to patients and creating near-term revenue potential

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 13, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mydecine Innovations Group (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) (“Mydecine” or the “Company”), a biotechnology and digital technology company aiming to transform the treatment of mental health and addiction disorders, announced today they would be launching The Special Access Support and Supply Program (SASSP) to provide products and services to physicians, clinics, and hospitals in Canada who are looking to treat patients through psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. With the new addition of psilocybin and MDMA to the approved list of substances under Health Canada’s Special Access Program (SAP), the company aims to fill a critical gap in the market by allowing thousands of healthcare professionals and clinics the resources needed to bring these treatments to patients in need.

Last week, Health Canada announced an amendment to federal regulations, granting practitioners and pharmacists the ability to request and prescribe psilocybin and MDMA for treatment-resistant patients. This means patients who have not seen success from other treatments can now access additional treatment options. To re-enforce safe and effective integrations of these treatments, Mydecine’s SASSP will offer A-Z support to medical practices across Canada.

Through the Company’s SASSP, healthcare practitioners can purchase a package including cGMP psilocybin and MDMA, investigative brochures, therapy manuals, protocol training, advisory services, and post-therapy support for patients through Mydecine’s wholly-owned subsidiary Mindleap Health. Mindleap is a digital health platform that combines therapeutic and educational content with virtual 1-on-1 professional support for psychedelic integration.

Mydecine is currently producing cGMP certified pharmaceutical grade psilocybin and MDMA with coverage under a Health Canada Schedule 1 Drugs and Substances Dealer’s License in Alberta. With multiple clinical trials launching this year utilizing psychedelic compounds, as well as their partnership with Johns Hopkins University, the Company is well-positioned to help physicians, clinics, and hospitals use Canada’s new regulations.

Mydecine’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rakesh Jetly, stated, “While we are committed to demonstrating the safety and efficacy of these medicines for specific indications through our clinical trials, we do recognize that in the meantime, there are people that are suffering from mental illnesses that haven’t responded to the evidence-based treatments that are currently accessible to them. I believe through our program, we can help treat a significant patient population who are in need of alternative options. Our global team of scientists, doctors, and advisors have extensive experience in administering these types of treatments, and we look forward to sharing that knowledge and expertise to promote responsible and successful use of psilocybin and MDMA.”

CEO Josh Bartch added, “The goal of our Special Access Support and Supply Program, is to help physicians who want to prescribe these treatments to their patients but might not have access to the drug product in Canada or experience implementing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. It’s extremely encouraging to see these much-needed treatments gaining government acceptance, and now we need to enable successful therapy outcomes. Outside of safe drug products, practitioners need access to the resources and the proper training to provide these treatments to their patients. By launching this program, we are providing the resources the thousands of non-psychedelic clinics and hospitals will need in order to safely and effectively integrate these therapies into existing medical practices.”

MDMA works better than antidepressants

Latest Trials Confirm the Benefits of MDMA – the Drug in Ecstasy – for Treating PTSD

Plus, the effects are long-lasting!

A recent analysis found that, on average, patients who received MDMA-assisted therapy experienced a 22 point reduction in PTSD scores, whereas daily antidepressants only reduced scores by 6 to 14 points.

One year after receiving the treatments, patients still reported benefits:

  • 84% reported improved feelings of well-being
  • 71% had fewer nightmares
  • 69% had less anxiety
  • 66% had improved sleep

Why is it so effective? MDMA reduces feelings of intense anxiety, allowing patients to open up and work through traumatic memories without fear.

Mycrodose Therapeutics Receives DEA License to Research Four Psychedelics

Mycrodose Therapeutics Receives DEA License to Research Four Psychedelics

Mycrodose Therapeutics is pleased to announce that the company has been approved by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), State of California Attorney General’s Research Advisory Board, and The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to research four (4) psychedelic compounds at their San Diego, California laboratory.

The company’s Schedule I DEA License was granted final approval after the DEA conducted an extensive in-person audit of Mycrodose Therapeutics’ facilities and after the FDA conducted an extensive review of the company’s in-depth research protocols for using Psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, and DMT in the development of their IP protected drug delivery technologies.

Mycrodose Therapeutics is one of a few private companies that has been granted a Schedule I License to research four (4) psychedelic compounds by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

“With the approval to research four Schedule I active pharmaceutics ingredients in our laboratory, we are extremely excited to marry those substances with our proprietary advanced drug delivery technologies. We are confident that our non-conventional drug delivery platforms will not only make the use of psychedelic drugs much safer but also increase the number of patients that can be treated with these powerful APIs. I’m thinking here in particular about children and the elderly. Due to the projected tight dosage control and the convenience of use, we are poised to elevate the status quo of psychedelic drug use in many medical conditions”, says Dr. Kochinke, Mycrodose Therapeutics, Chief Science Officer.

Dr. Frank Kochinke has over 30 years of experience inventing advanced drug delivery technologies and working with Schedule I compounds within the pharmaceutical-biotech industry. Having this in-house core expertise allowed Mycrodose Therapeutics to apply directly to the DEA, whereas many companies in the Psychedelic sector rely on the experience of third-party research institutions or Universities to carry out their research protocols.

Mycrodose Therapeutics laboratory in San Diego is currently in development of two (2) of their four (4) core technologies; the transdermal patch and transmucosal lozenge. The company’s IP Protected technology delivers a sustained and controlled dose of medicine into the body over time, which is believed to be safer and more effective than conventional drug delivery methods.

“We are excited to have a team with the expertise to obtain our Schedule I DEA license without needing to partner with a research institution or University. This milestone continues to validate the depth of our team, our research protocols, and our technologies,” says Chad Conner, Chief Executive Officer.

Take this test before your first ayahuasca retreat

Entheon Biomedical Announces Expanded Psychedelics Genetic Test Panel

HaluGen Life Sciences expanded its psychedelic DNA test – it can now assess how your body metabolizes LSD, MDMA and ayahuasca.

The kit tests for a CYP2D6 gene mutation, which can cause metabolism of the drugs to take up to twice as long. This could lead to longer, more intense trips and adverse reactions.

Thankfully, the mutation is only present in 5-10% of people!
