BETTER PLANT LAUNCHES URBAN JUVE LOYALTY PROGRAM WITH LOYALTYLION

Vancouver, B.C. – November 24, 2020: Better Plant Sciences Inc. (CSE: PLNT) (OTCQB: VEGGF) (FSE: YG3) (“Better Plant”) or (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the launch of  a customer rewards program called “Insider Rewards” for its Urban Juve skin care line.

LoyaltyLion is a loyalty program platform that supports eCommerce growth by unlocking insights that make it possible to amplify marketing efforts while making customers feel valued. LoyaltyLion has a track record of producing higher customer spend and increasing repeat purchase rates.

Brand engagement activities could include signing up for Urban Juve emails, leaving product reviews, and following Urban Juve on social media platforms.”

The loyalty program also offers a mobile-optimized referral tool to help gain new high value customers at a low acquisition cost. The Company plans to offer Insider Rewards across all brands and will leverage the LoyaltyLion platform for the program.

A 2019 KPMG survey reported that 81% of millennial consumers say they spend more with a company when they are a member of a loyalty program, and 78% say they would switch to a company that offered a better program.

NEONMIND COMMENCES PRECLINICAL TRIAL TO EXAMINE PSILOCYBIN FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Vancouver, B.C. – November 19, 2020: Better Plant Sciences Inc. (CSE: PLNT) (OTCQB: VEGGF) (FSE: YG3) (“Better Plant”) or (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that its majority owned subsidiary NeonMind Biosciences Inc. (“NeonMind”) has now commenced a psilocybin preclinical trial examining psilocybin as a potential treatment to promote and cause weight loss and to reduce food cravings (the “Trial”) after obtaining Health Canada approval. The Trial is being conducted by the University of British Columbia pursuant to a fee for service agreement.

“We are thrilled to be moving forward with our preclinical trial,” said Penny White, CEO of Better Plant. “We plan to use the data from this trial to support our pending patents and to help inform the protocol development for a Phase 2 human trial.”

NeonMind has filed 4 US provisional patent applications covering the use of psilocybin and other psychedelic substances to promote and cause weight loss, reduce food cravings, treat compulsive eating disorder, improve quality of diet, treat or regulate obesity-associated diabetes,  treat obesity-associated abnormal regulation of blood glucose and aid in the prevention of heart disease, high blood pressure and other obesity-associated illnesses. Its first psilocybin and weight loss related patent was filed in December 2019.

“Psilocybin is known to activate serotonin receptors,” says Dr. William Panenka, scientific advisor to NeonMind. “As a neurotransmitter, serotonin helps to relay messages from one area of the brain to another. Serotonin is responsible for some of the drivers which govern eating. We are very interested in furthering studies to test various dosing and timing regimens for NeonMind to see the effects that psilocybin may have on the regulation of food cravings, weight loss, and glucose-insulin metabolism.”

Obesity has been formally recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global epidemic, with at least 2.8 million people dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese. The WHO reported that in 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight.

About NeonMind Biosciences Inc.

The NeonMind team marries ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern science, delivering high quality formulations that put health and wellness at the forefront for each of its unique coffee blends. In addition to its medicinal mushroom products, NeonMind is developing patent pending intellectual property for therapeutic uses of psilocybin, the psychedelic substance in magic mushrooms. Health Canada has approved NeonMind’s preclinical trial for research into using psilocybin as a treatment to promote and cause weight loss and NeonMind is currently developing protocols for Phase II human trials to be submitted for approval in early 2021.

The Hand Sanitizer Gel will be sold in packs of three for USD $21.99. The product page can be accessed here. The hand sanitizer gel contains 65% ethyl alcohol as well as aloe vera and eucalyptus oil, which can help to combat skin dryness: a common side effect of many hand sanitizers. It also contains tea tree oil and cedarwood essential oils which give it increased antimicrobial activity as well as a fresh outdoorsy scent that has garnered positive feedback from consumers and retailers alike.

The hand sanitizer gel is listed with the FDA (NDC 75385-0010-1) and has received Natural Health Product Number 80098154 from Health Canada. Urban Juve’s Ultra Hydrating Hand Sanitizer Spray received Health Canada approval on March 27, 2020.

Sales of hand sanitizer are expected to reach US $11 billion in 2020, a 600% increase over 2019. The hand sanitizer market is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 17% between 2019 and 2025 according to a report from Aritzon.

BETTER PLANT RECEIVES HEALTH CANADA APPROVAL FOR PLANT-BASED ANTISEPTIC SKIN OINTMENT

Vancouver, B.C. – October 29, 2020: Better Plant Sciences Inc. (CSE: PLNT) (OTCQB: VEGGF) (FSE: YG3) (“Better Plant”) or (the “Company”) announces that it has received a Natural Health Product (“NHP”) number (#80105697) from Health Canada for its plant-based, antimicrobial, antiseptic skin ointment. This product was developed after promising results from the Company’s research of certain plant-based compounds for antimicrobial activity against pathogens for potential antiviral treatments. This will be Better Plants fourth Health Canada approval in 2020.

“This antiseptic skin repair and healing ointment formula was developed over ten months and is based on the ancient principles of Ayurveda. It uses plants containing natural compounds that work powerfully to fight bacteria and viruses and contains powerful plant oils with antibacterial and antifungal compounds,” says Penny White, CEO of Better Plant. “It is ideal for minor skin wounds, sores, and bruises.”

All NHPs sold in Canada require premarket approval. The health claim that was approved for Urban Juve’s infectious disease fighting ointment is: “Traditionally used in Herbal Medicine as an antiseptic and/or antimicrobial to help treat minor wounds and sores.” Better Plant’s skin healing ointment uses polyherbal combinations to achieve an effective therapeutic effect. Key ingredients include thyme, copaiba, and clove essential oil, which all have wound healing properties. “Polyherbal formulations use a group of plants, combined precisely based on the principles of Ayurveda,” says Bhavna Solecki, Director of Research and Product Development for Better Plant.

According to a 2018 Market Study Report, the global wound care biologics market is expected to reach USD $2.9 billion by 2025. The global market is segmented on the basis of product, wound type, end user, and region. By product, the market segmented into biological skin substitutes and topical agents. The biological skin substitutes segment is estimated to account for the largest share of the market in 2018.

“Traditional medicine and healers have long used plants to prevent or cure infectious disease,” says Bhavna Solecki, Director of Research and Product Development for Better Plant. “The active compounds available in plants have high therapeutic value. Western medicine has begun duplicating ancient medicine with success, and microbiologists, botanists and natural product chemists are becoming more involved in researching plant phytochemicals for treatment of infectious disease.”

Better Plant also welcomes Joelle Fiorito who has been appointed as Director of Operations. Joelle has overseen operations for Jusu since the brand was created in 2014. Joelle will take on some of the duties of Tamara Melk, who is now leaving Better Plant as  Chief Operating Officer.

Field Trip Health Ltd. Provides Update on FT-104, Its Next Generation Psychedelic Molecule in Development

Results confirm that Field Trip’s novel psychedelic molecule is similar in potency to psilocybin but with shorter duration of psychoactivity making it a potentially preferable option for psychedelic therapies

TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2020 /CNW/ — Field Trip Health Ltd. (CSE: FTRP) (OTC: FTRPF) (“Field Trip”), the leader in the development and delivery of psychedelic therapies, today provided an update on its in-vivo and in-vitro studies on FT-104, its lead drug candidate.

Further to its announcement on September 29, 2020, confirming both the successful GLP synthesis of FT-104 and that FT-104 is a serotonin 5HT2A receptor agonist (the serotonin receptor believed responsible for psychedelic experiences), Field Trip announced that FT-104 is a potent psychedelic molecule with rapid onset and a short duration.

Notably, Field Trip reported:

  • FT-104’s binding constant (Ki) for the 5HT2A receptor is 120 nM, which indicates a potency similar to psilocybin1;
  • A 2mg/kg subcutaneous dose of FT104 to rats resulted in peak concentrations (Cmax) of the active agonist of 150+/-51 ng/ml at 60 min (Tmax) and bioavailability of 89%.
  • The elimination of FT-104 from the bloodstream has a half-life (t1/2) of 40min, which compares to psilocybin with a half-life on the order of 120min2;
  • A head twitch response (“HTR”) was observed after administration of FT-104. The intensity of the HTR correlated well with plasma levels of the active which suggests that the EC50 (50% effective concentration) for the HTR is in the range of 100 ng/ml. It has been shown that the HTR in rodents is related to the intensity of psychedelic activity of a psychedelic substance, and thus, is an indicator of its potential for use as a catalyst to treat mood disorders.

In summary, these experiments demonstrate that: (i) FT-104 is a near equipotent 5HT2A receptor agonist to psilocybin that can be delivered with high bioavailability; and (ii)  FT-104 will likely produce a reliably short-duration of psychedelic experience in the range of two to four hours, which is approximately half the duration of psilocybin.

“As we formulated our drug development strategy, we focused on new molecules (NCEs) that: (i) offer shorter duration of psychedelic experiences to make them more practical and convenient for use in the clinic; (ii) had similar potency to psilocybin or MDMA; (iii) had low potential for addiction; and (iv) would be simple to synthesize while differentiated and structurally distinct from psilocybin or other existing 5HT2A receptor agonists,” commented Dr. Nathan Bryson, Field Trip’s Chief Science Officer. “After significant research and due diligence, we initiated synthesis of a battery of small molecules, from which FT-104 was selected as our lead molecule. I am excited to take FT-104 into the next phases of our drug development program.”

FT-104 is a novel, synthetic psychedelic molecule developed by Field Trip inspired by the chemical structures of known psychedelic substances. FT-104 was selected for its simplicity as well as its potential to distinguish itself with respect to its pharmacological features relative to naturally-derived substances, such as psilocybin, DMT and LSD.

“Drugs like psilocybin and MDMA are showing significant efficacy in treating conditions like depression and PTSD,” said Dieter Weinand, Field Trip Board Member and former Chairman and CEO of Bayer Pharmaceuticals AG. “However, the relatively slow onset, and long duration of those drugs, which can result in treatment times lasting from 6 to 10 hours or more, makes them less attractive to patients and clinicians because of the time and treatment infrastructure required. Not to mention, they are not, generally speaking, protectable by intellectual property.”

“If the results suggested by these preliminary studies for FT-104 are confirmed in clinical studies, FT-104 will address several notable limitations of psilocybin and MDMA.  Plus, it would be more convenient,” added Weinand, “which could make it a first choice for clinicians and a better treatment option than psilocybin.”

Ronan Levy, Field Trip’s Executive Chairman noted, “Since inception, our philosophy at Field Trip has been that any psychedelics company needs to focus on both the development of psychedelic medicines and the delivery of psychedelic therapies.  We’ve always known that the Field Trip Health centers rolling out across North America would give us a competitive advantage in understanding and meeting the challenges of psychedelic medicine. Now, the latest results with FT104 suggest that Field Trip will also be the leader in the development of new psychedelic therapeutics.”

About Field Trip Health Ltd.
