The shift toward nature-based psychedelic therapy 🌲

The potential synergistic effects between psychedelic administration and nature contact for the improvement of mental health

Experts from Imperial College London predict that combining psychedelics and contact with nature could have a beneficial synergy, as both are known to decrease rumination, increase mindfulness, and elicit feelings of awe and transcendence.

Combining the two could also restore the disconnect and fear of nature that more and more people are feeling as technology takes over.

In their review, the researchers note that it may be beneficial to incorporate natural elements into treatment rooms and include contact with nature in the therapy sessions leading up to and following the psychedelic session.

While a fully outdoor session has drawbacks, the researchers explain that a hybrid indoor/outdoor with large skylights and windows and nature-based design elements would be the ideal setting for psychedelic therapy.

Organizations like Usona Institute and Synthesis Institute are already working to incorporate nature into treatment programs – let’s hope this trend continues!

Pasithea Therapeutics Announces Plans to Open Three New Clinics in the UK by Mid-2022

Pasithea Therapeutics Announces Plans to Open Three New Clinics in the UK by Mid-2022

— Each clinic expected to contribute an estimated USD$5 million (£4 million) annually in revenue —

— New London locations will provide pharmacy services, ketamine therapy, and other psychiatric treatments, including repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (“rTMS”) —

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Feb. 24, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pasithea Therapeutics Corp. (Nasdaq: KTTA) (“Pasithea” or the “Company”), a novel biotechnology company focused on the research and discovery of new and effective treatments for psychiatric and neurological disorders, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Pasithea Clinics, has expanded its treatment offerings and is planning to open three new clinics in London to treat patients suffering from mental health issues. The Company already has locations in Marylebone and Knightsbridge.

“With these new clinics, we will broaden our London footprint and start offering pharmacy services and new treatment options, bringing important and novel mental health therapies to an ever-growing number of people. In addition to pharmacy services, our London clinics will offer other psychiatric treatment therapies, including repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation and ketamine and esketamine treatment,” stated Dr. Tiago Reis Marques, CEO of Pasithea Therapeutics. “With our strong cash position and our continued expansion in London, we believe we are well positioned to bring value to our shareholders,” concluded Dr. Marques.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with ZEN Healthcare, which has been providing pioneering IV therapies in London for six years. By offering more locations, and a greater number of treatment options, we continue to work toward closing the treatment gap and getting millions of people the help they need,” said Dr. Yassine Bendiabdallah, Managing Director of Pasithea Clinics in the UK.

The clinics, which will be operated by Pasithea, with management support from ZEN Healthcare, are expected to open by mid-2022. Each clinic will contribute an estimated USD$5 million annually in revenue.

Repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (“rTMS”) is a therapeutic brain-stimulation technique based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. First developed in 1985, rTMS has been studied as a treatment for depression, psychosis, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, and has shown particular efficacy with drug-resistant depressive disorders. In 2008, rTMS was approved for use by the FDA as a treatment for major depression for patients who do not respond to at least one antidepressant medication. A typical plan consists of five treatments per week over the course of four to six weeks.

Ketamine is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) approved drug introduced to the medical community as an anesthetic more than 50 years ago. It has recently been repurposed for the treatment of psychiatric disorders using significantly lower doses than in anesthesia and is gaining ground as a promising treatment for mental health disorders. In certain psychiatric conditions, such as treatment-resistant depression (“TRD”) and post-traumatic stress disorder (“PTSD”), it has shown remarkable efficacy and a rapid and sustained effect. While the number of treatments suggested is done on a case-by-case basis, a typical treatment plan consists of up to six infusions in the interval of two to three weeks.

Pasithea Therapeutics Announces Opening of Mental Health Clinic in Los Angeles and Broadens Focus Beyond Ketamine Treatments

In-person clinic will provide ketamine therapy and other novel mental health treatments, including repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (“rTMS”)

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Jan. 26, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pasithea Therapeutics Corp. (Nasdaq: KTTA) (“Pasithea” or the “Company”), a novel biotechnology company focused on the research and discovery of new and effective treatments for psychiatric and neurological disorders, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Pasithea Clinics, will open a clinic in Los Angeles, California, to provide intravenous (“IV”) ketamine and other therapies to patients suffering from treatment-resistant mental health issues. The Company will continue offering in-home ketamine therapy through its Los Angeles area at-home mobile clinics.

“The opening of our first in-person clinic in the United States is a milestone for the Company. This physical clinic will allow us to expand our services beyond IV ketamine therapy and continue to address the important segment of patients who are suffering from treatment resistant mental health disorders. Located in the suburb of Taylorsville at 6087 South Redwood Road, Suite B, KWC Salt Lake City is the first of the company’s clinics in Utah. With up to seven treatment rooms at the facility, this location will be one of the largest ketamine clinics in the U.S. and the largest ketamine infusion clinic in Utah. The clinic will also create 10 new jobs, with four filled at the outset and an additional six with a full patient schedule.

“Utah currently experiences one of the highest rates of mental health concerns in the country with lower access to care, and KWC aims to serve this new community of patients struggling with treatment-resistant conditions,” said Kevin Nicholson, CEO of KWC and Chief Operating Officer for Delic. “KWC is known for providing the highest standard of care and we are committed to providing the most effective and personalized treatment protocol to our patients and support and education to their loved ones.”

The launch of KWC Salt Lake City allows Delic to execute its strategy of opening ketamine treatment centers in growing cities with the goal of reaching the greatest number of patients and providing reasonably priced treatments.

Matt Stang, co-founder and CEO of Delic, explained, “As the pandemic enters its third year, the need for effective, affordable options for mental health treatments is even more critical. We are thrilled to be opening the first KWC clinic in Utah and building on our promise to make these vital treatments more accessible by expanding our network into underserved communities where they are most needed.”

To commemorate the grand opening, KWC Salt Lake City will host several events for the community to learn more about the clinic and ask questions about ketamine treatments, including an in-person and virtual meet and greet and a spring event that will bring together other local businesses.

Novamind Unveils New Design Concept for Clinics

Novamind Unveils New Design Concept for Clinics

TORONTO, ON / January 5, 2022 / Novamind Inc. (CSE: NM | OTCQB: NVMDF | FSE: HN2) (“Novamind” or the “Company”), a leading mental health company specialized in psychedelic medicine, today unveiled its clinic design concept (the “Design Concept”) to accommodate the unique requirements of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. The Design Concept will launch first in Novamind’s Park City, Utah location, and later across Novamind’s de novo clinics. Select design elements and principles will be integrated within existing clinic locations.

Inclusive and welcoming, the Design Concept enhances the patient experience at Novamind clinics, prioritizing patient safety and privacy, and utilizing evidence-based therapeutic elements to optimize patient care, including:

  • Biophilic designs that mimic nature and emphasize light interplay and neutral colour theory
  • Walking paths designed to minimize disruption and traffic across the clinic, creating a sense of privacy and tranquility
  • Curved treatment spaces, representing the protective space of cocoons, to facilitate the more sedentary experience of ketamine treatment
  • Larger treatment rooms to accommodate group therapy programs and support movement and more active patient behaviours associated with MDMA, psilocybin and other psychedelic medicines when approved by the FDA

To create the Design Concept, Novamind contracted DesignAgency, an internationally recognized interior design firm with clients that include the Four Seasons Hotels, MGM Resorts, Momofuku restaurants, Soho House and others. DesignAgency worked closely with Novamind’s clinical team to incorporate a host of therapeutic considerations into the design blueprint to achieve optimal patient experiences.

“We collaborated with Novamind’s clinical team and understood the importance of ‘set and setting’ in psychedelic medicine,” said Matt Davis, Co-Founder and Principal at DesignAgency. “The goal was to create spaces that allow patients to have a holistic experience and signal hope and healing well before they walk through the door.”

Dr. Reid Robison, Chief Medical Officer at Novamind, commented: “This new concept, combined with Novamind’s standard operating procedures, creates the most welcoming and effective healing environment possible. We wanted our clinics to be comforting, inviting and calming. With guidance from the DesignAgency team, we now have the blueprint to create spaces that elevate our patients’ healing experience.”
